Mini Countryman 2017

Generation 3 Minis share their technology set-ups with BMWs. The Countryman adds touchscreen interface to the regular, rotary controller unit on the tunnel.

The bigger (8.8-inch) inch centre screen of the media XL system allows a split-screen set up, but the stand-out quality is the modern flat(ish) graphic design — which feels very on-brand for Mini. Colours are vivid and distinct, and transitions between Menus see icons ‘pop’ off the screen.

It fits with the wider vibe of the ‘Mini yours’ options — a backlit dash panel, union flag stitching on the back of the headrests and little lapels on the seats.

You need to buy into the Mini brand for it to appeal, but if you do, Mini’s probably hit the nail on the head with the design of this set up.
